Regional Characteristics

Located in coastal Provence on the Mediterranean Sea, Sanary-sur-Mer is a tourist-friendly port city with a population of 100,000. More than 70% of its residents are engaged in livestock farming and agriculture, and the city is France's maritime transport hub conne- cting the country to Southeast Asia by sea.

Hongcheon-gun is a transportation hub in central and northern Gangwon-do. As an agricultural county where most of the county resid- ents are engaged in farming and are planning to gradually expand the livestock industry, both cities share common characteristics in terms of their residents' sources of income.

It is expected that cultural exchange through sisterhood activities will increase to provide a turning point for mutual development, attract international tourists to Seoraksan Mountain and Odaesan Mountain, and develop residents' businesses, including the agricul- tural and livestock industries.
