The wine jars are opened at the end of the year around December. During the wine jar opening season, a big festival takes place on the farm.

Omija (Five-Flavor Berry) Experience

The name omija was given as the fruit has five flavors, namely, sweetness, sourness, bitterness, saltiness, and spiciness. Pick the famous omijas of Dongchang Village with outstanding flavor and fragrance with your own hands, and use the hand-picked omijas to make omija tea, which is great for preventing colds. You can also learn how to make omija wine.

Fishing in a River (Cheollyeop)

Cheollyeop is an event that takes place when there is a lesser amount of farming work to be done in spring, summer, and autumn. It is the most basic form of traditional Korean play where farmers take a break from their work and catch fish from the creek. They cook and share the fish they caught that day on the spot.
In Dongchange Village, you can participate in traditional Korean play, the Cheollyeop culture. The clear water of Naechoncheon Stream, the beautiful natural landscape of Namsan Mountain, and the small tools you need for Cheollyeop are all prepared for you.

Celebration of the 15th Day of the First Lunar Month

Since the ancient times, Koreans have celebrated Jeongwol Boreum, the first moon of the new year in the lunar calendar. It is also referred to as, “Daeboreum.”
On Jeongwol Daeboreum, Dongchang Village hosts a small music concert at Gimimanse Park and on the vast field in front of the village, starting with a sacrificial rite that wishes for a good harvest for the year and peace in the village. By the time the sun sets in the west, Jwibulnori, where people hang a piece of paper containing their wish on a straw ball, set it on fire, and throw it to the sky takes place. Torch spinning is a great opportunity for children to learn about the traditional Korean culture that has been fading away.
