Duck Release Experience

Palbong Chamsari Village hosts the Duck Release Festival celebrating Dano each year for tourists visiting the rural village. The Duck Release Experience is popular among visitors as they can enjoy the clean, natural environment of Palbong Chamsari Village, and experience the environmentally friendly farming method based on the waterside resources.
The agricultural technique using ducks, which are released into rice fields to feed on harmful insects, can eliminate the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers as excretions from the ducks act as natural fertilizer. Generally, it only takes 10 ducks for farmers to cultivate 330㎡ of rice field without using any pesticide.Ducks do not feed on rice as the shape of their beaks is not ideal for rice, which is rich in fiber.
The Duck Release Experience of Palbong Chamsari Village allows the consumers and producers to develop mutual understanding as customers can build trust on the environmentally friendly agricultural produce that they purchase by seeing how they are grown with their own eyes. It functions as a scene of understanding for farming villages.

Planting Young Rice Plants by Hand

Palbong Chamsari Village offers a program called “Planting Young Rice Plants by Hand” where visitors are offered a hands-on experience of environmentally friendly farming. Rice planting involves making a rice seedbed, sowing rice seeds in it, growing the rice seeds until they grow to about 10 to 15 centimeters tall, and then transplanting them to a rice field. The Rice Planting Experience is an experience course through which participants can learn what the Korean staple food, rice, looks like and how it is produced while learning to appreciate the labor that goes into rice production. Children can learn the value of nature through the Rice Planting Experience and understand why we need to conserve nature. In addition, they are offered a first-hand experience on how the producers strive to offer healthy food for us and learn about environmentally friendly farming. It will offer a unique experience that children cannot learn in school or while leading an urban life.

Catching Grasshoppers

In Palbong Chamsari Village, you can easily spot grasshopper freely hopping round the rice field in autumn.
The Grasshopper Catching Experience is an experience event designed to promote the clean rice of the Palbong Chamsari Village’s Duck Rice Field, which is produced using an environmentally friendly farming technique. It is a good event in which the whole family can participate and foster a deep bond while adults recall the memories of their childhood and share them with their children. Catching grasshoppers and trying stir-fried grasshoppers is a unique experience and great memory for children growing up in the current era.

Chamsari Weekend Farm

Palbong Chamsari Village began offering a Weekend Farm Program to provide an opportunity for urbanites to learn the pleasure of growing, the joy of harvesting, and the wonders of nature through a farming experience. Although it may be a small plot of land, you can prepare your own space where you can share happiness with your family members and become a farmer. You will also be able to experience the joy of harvest with rich agricultural produce that you care for diligently.
