Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.

He reviews and tests cleaning equipment, with a focus on mopping and robot vacuum combos. These multitaskers can be a great option for those looking to eliminate mopping from their list of tasks. Some models have superior mapping capabilities and obstacles avoidance. Others even wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free clean.

The Eufy S1 Pro

This is the model to choose if you want a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It is smaller than other options and makes it easier to maneuver in tight spaces or under furniture. It features a 220-degree Lidar which, when combined with the 3D Matrix Camera System, offers some of the best navigation and avoidance capabilities I've seen in the form of a robotic vacuum. It's powered by a 4600mAh battery which can last up to 170 minutes when cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer when it is set to turbo). It will even return to the dock to replenish its battery part way through an efficient.

It's extremely efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly, and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways with just one sweep. Its suction motor of 8,000pa makes short work of picking up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically boosts power when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help pull away debris from corners.

The mopping performance is less impressive, but not by a lot. The mop rotates quickly and makes use of 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arm sticks out a little more than other robots. This is useful when you're trying to get into tight corners or along baseboards. Those same front arms can also be used to sweep larger objects, such as broken toys and fallen books.

Another great feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever tried. It is quieter and doesn't create as much noise when mopping or vacuuming. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It's simple to install and works well however, it's something you'll need to be aware of when you purchase this vacuum solely for the purpose of mopping.

The Roborock Q Revo

The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It has a robust suite of features that make it a great choice for homeowners who want an efficient, flexible and adaptable cleaning machine.

The device comes with a powerful and impressive cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map your home and detect furniture and other obstacles. It can then use this information to clean methodically and efficiently. This will result in a thorough, consistent clean which is also relatively quick.

In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can be used to reach an array of surface areas. These include corners and baseboards as well as other hard-to-reach spots. They also come with a stretchy side brush that can be extended to the floor in close proximity to walls and robot vacuum cleaner other fixtures. The mop pads can also be washable and dry to reduce odors and prevent buildup.

App-based customization is a different interesting feature. The Q Revo lets you adjust the intensity of its suction and select between a back-andforth or more random patterns. You can also alter the number of passes it will make, which will determine the speed at which the device can move through your home. You can also choose to disable the side brush to prevent damaging rugs and carpets.

The device is costly, but it comes with a lot of smart features. However, it's important to remember that it carries recurring costs in the form of mopping equipment and maintenance. For instance, a brushroll needs to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter will need to be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad should be replaced every three to six months.

This robotic vacuum cleaner has an excellent rating on Amazon and comes with a wide variety of physical automation features. The robot vacuum also has an power button that doubles as a 'Clean' button' and a 'Home button that allows it to go back home after cleaning. It also comes with a multi-functional dock which automatically empty the trash bin, fills up its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The Shark Matrix Plus

The Shark Matrix Plus will be an ideal choice for busy professionals or anyone who wants to keep their home clean without spending too much time on chores. It's a top-performing device, intelligent navigation, and long battery life that allows you to keep your home tidy with minimal effort.

The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum cleaner vacuum and mop which means it can handle both vacuuming and mopping. It has two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping system with microfiber pads that snap in and out of place. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming might seem a bit outdated however, they mean you don't have to think about changing disposable bags or refueling the tank with water.

Our testers discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job at both vacuuming and mopping. Its best feature was its precise floorplan map that it uses to draw a route when cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture carpets, rugs, and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' and virtual barriers to stop certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.

The Matrix Plus also did a amazing job of collecting pet hair. It was able to capture many of the hair that our cats shed, and even got into some of the nooks and crannies on our stairs, where other robots struggled. It was relatively quiet and had some lovely jingles to indicated when it was about to start or finishing its work.

The biggest flaws were its simplistic app and the necessity to switch between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app is not able to store multiple maps. This could be an issue if your house has several floors. The Matrix Plus is a good option for those who want an intelligent robot that can do both mopping and vacuuming.

The Yiko X1 Omni

The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive item in our review. However, it does have distinct features that make it worth looking into. The X1 Omni is notable for its massive dock that serves as a charging base for the robot cleaner with mop, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks that are 4 liters in size. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin as well as the 2.5 liter dust bin.

The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to manually start a cleaning task, recall the robot vacuum uk, or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path. It will steer clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system can map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognising objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with obstacles, like the power cord that is draped across a rug that it becomes stuck and stops working until you manually free it. This is a rare event however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have an "stuck status" alert in its application.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during cleaning. You'll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't that bad but the mopping pad doesn't get cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its sleek, modern-looking base and mopping pad. It's a huge contrast to the basic black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an excellent choice for an industry dominated by boxy models.
