There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide better cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot vacuum cleaner that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Best Robot Hoover the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum cleaners uk utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums with mop vacuums that we have examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
