The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris, and wash them when required. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoovers hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. The flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and look better. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.

For bigger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, best robot hoover a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuums best vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would think from its price. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto vacuum and mop-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.robotic-vacuum-cleaner-cleaning-the-room-while-wom-2024-11-07-13-20-10-utc-min-jpg-original.jpg
