Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a nationwide shortage of medications that treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing issues and an increased demand in the world.

Our service is private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A comprehensive assessment of your ADHD symptoms will be carried out by a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist. This includes medical history and an assessment using the typical ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

After your examination After your assessment, you will be informed whether medication is appropriate for your situation. This will be discussed at your follow-up appointment (which may be scheduled in person, via video link, or over the phone). Your doctor will explain the different options available for you to take medication and if you decide to begin taking medication, we will offer to titrate the dose to optimise the benefits/side effects balance for you.

This process may take several weeks, and requires gradually altering your child's dosage until the right balance is reached. It's not uncommon to need to adjust several times before finding the one that is best for your child's ADHD symptoms. It is essential for parents to participate in this titration process and keep a close eye on their child's behavior to inform the doctor if the medicine is helping or causing adverse effects.

If you decide to go back to NHS treatment you will receive a private prescription for your medication. You will have to pay the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation cost. You'll need to attend six-monthly appointments to monitor your medications. This includes the measurement of pulse and blood pressure. Annual reviews are also required.

Follow-up appointments

After the assessment is completed, you will be able to schedule follow up appointments with your psychiatrist, if appropriate. The appointment usually takes place through a video call using zoom, although in certain cases it is possible to have an audio only consultation (again at an additional cost).

We suggest that if you are unsure about your preferences, you talk with your GP prior to scheduling your private titration adhd examination. Your clinician will check whether you are stable on the medication, document any side effects that you have experienced and make any necessary adjustments to ensure you remain on a safe dosage. You'll also be required to attend a routine health check, which could include blood pressure readings, pulse and weight and an annual review.

For some people it could be that they are content with their medication and don't need a further discussion about their titration. If you need to discuss your titration plan or treatment plan more thoroughly, it is possible that you'll be sent back to the private clinic who made your initial assessment. In this instance, the titration will be included in the consultation cost. The medication will be given via an individual prescription.
