BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or adding new locks to bypass the security system.

Service Mode / Valet Mode

Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this discrete, unobtrusive device to combat the ever-increasing sophistication of high-tech thieves. It's designed to stop thieves from using keys or replacing the ECU to start your car and drive it off. Ghost links up to your CAN data network and utilizes the buttons on your vehicle (steering wheel, centre console and door panels) to create an individual push sequence that must be completed before the engine can start.

This will activate the anti-hijack mode and, once activated any attempt to start the engine will be blocked. The system will sharpen the horn flashing the indicators, and stop the vehicle if the code is not found. By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can cancel the Anti-Hijack feature. This allows your vehicle to be temporarily started without the need to enter the PIN.

If you have a GPS device that is connected to your BMW, you can make use of it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to navigate using your navigation system even when the vehicle is in a parking spot. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personalised PIN code is programmed into it. The pin code must be selected before the engine starts. This stops thieves from gaining access to the system with a cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will enter a service mode that disables all functions until the PIN code is entered, or you make use of the mobile app to dearm it.
