The Roborock Q7 Max is a powerful robot with smart mapping and app-based no go zones. Its run time of 180 minutes is impressive. It also automatically replenishes and self-empties its water tank.

1. Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot.

The Roomba J7+ is iRobot's smartest robot vacuum to date. Its biggest advancement is an obstacle detection system that uses built-in AI to detect objects like charging cords, shoes, and the dreaded pet waste most other robots can't avoid (and often slough through). It's the first robot vacuum cleaner cheap to send you a picture of an object that it encounters, meaning you can instruct the robot to avoid it.

The Combo J7+ is the most effective mop-bot we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt with ease while leaving no trace it was there. The iRobot app makes it easy to control. You can schedule cleanings, and also create Keep Out Zones to ensure that it doesn't vacuum in areas you don’t want. It's also compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can control it from start to stop using your voice.

The design is also better than the other models. It features a sleek, high-end piece that resembles a toy rather than a loud and obnoxious robot. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System self-empties, which is great to speed up cleaning.

In our tests, the j7+ was quick to clean up dust dirt, pet hair and even pet hair. Its counter-rotating rubber brush rolls kept the debris in one spot instead of scattering it all over the floor. It even was able to capture sand and small gravel, which most other robots aren't able to do. It did all this without getting tangled in our pet's hair.

Although it's not as smart as the $1,217 Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum, and it's not able to clean stairs, the j7+ is still a solid option for those who need mopping and a vacuum in their home. It's not expensive, and the iRobot app makes it very user-friendly to use.

The iRobot Home App is easy to use but we found it less reliable as other robotic cleaner apps. It can take a while to download updates and it's sometimes difficult to determine whether they're functioning until you actually witness them in action.

2. Roborock Q5+

If you're looking to purchase a vacuum that does more than just clean floors, the most effective option is likely to be hybrid. These machines are equipped with a water tank, so they can vacuum and mop at the same time. They also come with a variety of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacles avoidance, and even the capability to wash and dry mopping pads. The disadvantage is that they can be expensive at retail, but during Black Friday and Cyber Monday they usually drop in price.

Roborock is the manufacturer of some of our most loved robotic vacuums (visit my web page) and the Q5+ doesn't perform to the standards. It's their most affordable auto-empty model. While it lacks some of the premium features found on higher-end models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's still an excellent option if you're willing to sacrifice a bit to save a few hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is noticeably soft around obstacles like tables and walls and walls, which makes it a good option for homes with a lot of furniture. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning dust bunnies, which is a place where many cheaper robot vacuums often fall short. The technology for navigation in the Q5+ is fantastic too, with very little misses in corners and along walls.

The Q5+, like other Roborock products, can be controlled by just a few buttons on the device or through the Roborock App. The app lets you begin and stop cleanings or schedules, establish virtual barriers and no-go zones and modify your home map, or change the labels of rooms.

If you choose to purchase the Q5+, it comes with a brand new auto-empty dock that's specifically designed to make the robot easy to maintain. It requires a screwdriver to install, but once in place, emptying the bin is simple. It also features a large LCD display that is great to have when you're setting up schedules or altering settings. This feature isn't essential for everyone, but it can help you to keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a smart well-rounded vacuum and mop. It's capable of both vacuuming and mopping. Its design is among the best budget robot vacuum in the industry however it's quite expensive.

The base station looks nice and is easily hidden when not in use, and its size is relatively compact. The main reason to buy the station is the fact that it automates a variety of tasks, chores and functions that other robots have to leave to you. It can keep clean and dirty water, and then electrolyze and heat the water. Many other robots require this.

Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's the only robovac that I've tried that does a good job picking up debris from bare floors. And it's not as loud as the more expensive Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

But the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly in terms of navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs. This means it is prone to getting stuck or get confused in certain corners or rooms in the home. It's also not able to climb stairs as well as other models and isn't equipped with a dock that can create a cleaning zone for carpets that are soft.

While it doesn't offer as much in the way of cleaning configuration options in its app, or as many in-app shortcuts as other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for anyone looking for an all-around great robot vacuum and mop that's worth the premium price price.

However, if you're looking to save some money or don't want to think about the limitations of this robot there are many alternatives available which include a variety of eufy models that cost substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for example is a bit more expensive, but offers more features, such as stairs and a fully-function Dock, which provides a better overall vacuuming experience on plain floors carpets with low pile and even high-pile ones.

4. Eufy RoboVac G30

Eufy is an Anker company that has an established track record of making robot vacuums that have the right balance of performance, features, and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning on hard and carpet flooring, and a mopping function at a reasonable price. It's easy to set up by snapping one of the side brushes on, switch on and plug in the charging dock. The app walks you through a few steps to connect it to your Wi-Fi and then the G30 is ready to go. It is recommended to keep the dock close to a power outlet and plenty of room for it to move, however.

The G30 is tiny, 2.85 inches tall to be exact and can be placed under couches and other low-clearance furniture. Its design is less ostentatious compared to some rival models. It is sleek with a black finish and three physical buttons for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs the area in a spiral pattern over two minutes), Recharge, and Spot Cleaner. You can also connect the G30 with Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use voice commands to do unscheduled cleaning.

The primary characteristic that makes the G30 apart from its competitors is the method it cleans. It uses a built-in mapping to create an image of immovable objects in its path, remembering what it's already cleaned and the areas it's not able to access. When it's time to recharge, it returns to its base and resumes cleaning where it left off.

The sleek G30 has some flaws. The iRobot Roomba is more durable and has lower cost of operation. It is faster to charge, has similar battery life and performs better on bare floors or low-pile carpet. It also has a larger dust bin that doesn't require to be emptied as frequently and comes with a set of boundary strips to ensure it isn't in certain areas. The G30 however, is more affordable and much more manageable to maintain. Its smaller canister means it doesn't have to be emptied as often, and it has less trouble with bulky materials like cereal.
